Article 1
The present Law shall govern the status, organisation, authorisations and functions of the National Bank of Serbia, as well as the relationship between the National Bank of Serbia and authorities of the Republic of Serbia, international organisations and institutions.
The Republic of Serbia shall guarantee for commitments of the National Bank of Serbia

Article 2
The National Bank of Serbia shall be the central bank of the Republic of Serbia charged with the functions provided by the present and other laws.
The National Bank of Serbia shall be autonomous and independent in the performance of the functions provided by the present and other laws and it shall be supervised by the National Assembly and be answerable to it for its work.
In the performance of their functions, the National Bank of Serbia, authorities of the National Bank of Serbia and members of these authorities shall neither receive nor seek instructions from government bodies and organisations, as well as from other persons.
Government bodies and organisations, as well as other persons, may not endanger the autonomy and independence of the National Bank of Serbia, nor may they exert influence on the National Bank of Serbia, authorities of the National Bank of Serbia and members of these authorities in the performance of their functions.

Article 3
The achievement and maintenance of price stability shall be the main goal of the National Bank of Serbia.
The National Bank of Serbia shall contribute to the preservation and enhancement of stability of the financial system, without bringing into question the achievement of its main goal.
The National Bank of Serbia shall uphold the conduct of the economic policy of the Government of the Republic of Serbia (hereinafter: the Government) without prejudice to the achievement of the goals referred to in paragraphs 1 and 2 of this Article, by operating in keeping with market economy principles.
